A TIME FOR LIFE: Music for the Environment

Event Date:
Sunday, November 4, 2007 - 2:00am - 5:00am

Portland-based international vocal ensemble Cappella Romana presents an innovative new work of musical performance art called "A TIME FOR LIFE," exploring the spiritual aspects of living in harmony with nature. Pre-concert talk by Dr. John Chryssavgis, an envoy of the "Green Patriarch," His All Holiness Bartholomew, Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople. A post-concert discussion will be led by the composer Robert Kyr with a panel of environmental leaders, including Peter Drury of the Sightline Institute.

Written by Robert Kyr for eight voices, two vielles and viola da gamba and percussion, A TIME FOR LIFE is inspired by the Greek Orthodox Service for the Environment from Mt. Athos and invocations of Native Peoples.
