SENIOR CAMPAIGNER FOR NONPROFIT PUBLIC & ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH ORGANIZATION

Washington Toxics Coalition, a Seattle-based nonprofit organization working to protect public health and the environment by eliminating toxic pollution through policy reform, seeks a full-time, on-site, creative Senior Campaigner. The ideal candidate has previous campaign experience, particularly on policy campaigns.

OVERVIEW
The Senior Campaigner oversees and coordinates all elements of Washington Toxics Coalition’s campaigns to carry out the mission of the organization. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Senior Campaigner assists in setting the policy agenda, then leads planning and implementation of the campaign plan, including field work, advocacy, communications strategy and coalition building to support that agenda.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Plans, implements and oversees WTC’s overall public campaign efforts.
• Develops strategies and goals in the areas of content and messaging, grassroots organizing, and coalition building. Coordinates all campaign staff to implement short- and long-term strategies.
• Coordinates the Toxic-Free Legacy Coalition for the organization, a broad health-based coalition WTC works with to implement policy and other goals.
• Leads WTC’s outcome-driven campaign media strategy.
• Leads the development of WTC’s print and electronic campaign materials.
• Assists the Executive Director in monitoring legislative compliance and implementation.

Qualifications
• Demonstrated ability to carry out campaign planning, field organizing, advocacy, and strategic communications planning.
• Fundamental understanding of the process by which legislative policy is developed, introduced and passed.
• Three to five years progressively responsible experience developing and implementing advocacy campaigns, including media work and lobbying.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in political science, public administration, public health or related field. Graduate degree preferred.
• Valid Washington State driver’s license and reliable personal transportation required.
