Come work with us! Seattle-based US EPA Tribal Air Quality Team needs smart, friendly, self-starter to help us with our data needs. You will work under the Senior Environmental Employment (SEE) Program through NAPCA and must be a senior, 55 or over (PL-98-313).

Qualifications: MUST BE 55 years of age or older. Must have a college degree and be a good communicator. Must have experience programming and operating databases. Experience is desired in generating HTML via scripts or programming languages, creation of Microsoft Access applications, including forms, VBA, and documentation. Experience also desired in Python; Cherrypy and Psycopg; SQL; database theory and practice, including data normalization (PostgreSQL and Access); data security and backup issues; and source control (e.g., TortoiseSVN).

Job Description: Data support for the Federal Air Rules for Reservations (FARR) and Part 71 (Title V). Tasks vary greatly from day to day, and can include both outreach and technical components. Job is part time (20-29 hours per week), in downtown Seattle.

Outreach component: Learn about protecting air quality on Indian Reservations; help answer and manage the FARR Hotline, respond to questions and calls from the public, receive and track complaints about air quality. Assist with collecting and verifying outreach information and data for outreach efforts. Assist with the assessment/ development/ implementation of outreach and education materials.

Technical component: Provide database management, consultation, analysis, data conversion, development, reporting, and other technical support. Work with team members to develop new database modules to support FARR activities, assimilate new requirements and plan for future database development and deployment, create intranet pages through Python scripts for browser access to database information, create new databases, including supporting structures (forms, pages, etc.), as needed. Provide general database information updates by direct data entry, error correction, and backup. Periodically check contact module of database. Maintain intranet server application written in Python with Psycopg and Cherrypy. Generate periodic and ad hoc reports to support program needs. Generate and maintain forms developed in Microsoft Access. Support users and provide instruction on use of the database.

$12.72 per hour. Temporary year-to-year. Holidays, vacation, sick leave. EOE.
