Overview
The Resource Development Manager is responsible for identifying prospects and partnership opportunities, as well as securing sponsors, in-kind donations, advertisers, exhibitors, partners and grant opportunities to fund/support Downtown Seattle Association/Metropolitan Improvement District (DSA/MID) produced attractions, events, promotions, publications and initiatives throughout the year.

Duties & Responsibilities
• Collaborate with Communications & Marketing management team to determine sponsorship and grant funding needs; identify levels, benefits and valuation for sponsor, partner and trade agreements; ensure all agreements are carried out and consistent with overall event/initiative vision; and to ensure contracts align with DSA/MID brand, standards and practices.

• Build long-term sponsor/partner relationships; as well as develop and maintain sponsor database and logo library to ensure all sponsors and other partners are identified, tracked and recognized as appropriate.

• Identify, approach, secure and cultivate sponsors and other strategic funding sources totaling $500K+ annually for DSA/MID-produced attractions, events, and promotions including DSA/MID Annual Meeting, State of Downtown Economic Forum, Out to Lunch Concert Series, Holiday Carousel, neighborhood-based events and organizational initiatives.

• Identify, approach, secure and cultivate advertisers for DSA/MID publications and website, as well as exhibitors for DSA event exhibit space.

• Identify, approach, secure and cultivate promotional partnerships between DSA/MID and community event organizers.

• Identify prospective grant funding sources and prepare proposals and presentations as appropriate.

• Research comparable event sponsorship structure/approach and replicate best practices as appropriate.

• Oversee development and production of sponsorship/advertising sales collateral material and prepare customized sponsorship proposals, outlining sponsor responsibilities/benefits and value proposition which reflect sound understanding of prospect’s marketing goals.

• Collaborate with DSA/MID Finance Assistant to produce accurate and timely sponsor/advertising invoicing.

• Serve as on-site event host to corporate sponsors (including occasional early mornings, evenings and weekends).

• Produce and deliver post-event sponsor reports and thank you letters.

• Perform other related duties of comparable level/type as assigned.

Qualifications
• Degree in marketing, public relations or related fields
• Minimum of three to five years experience in corporate/community events sponsorship, media advertising sales, sports/entertainment marketing or fundraising
• Proven track-record of quantifiable selling success, including revenue growth
• Self-motivated and goal oriented; disciplined and a high-level of initiative with a good sense of humor
• Professional, diplomatic and mature manner with an ability to interact effectively with senior executives; assertive and energetic personality with strong interpersonal skills, camaraderie among staff colleagues and ability to work within a team-oriented culture
• Sound business judgment; ability to work independently and deal with rapidly changing priorities
• Highly organized with a proven ability to manage multiple projects with high degree while meeting deadlines, and deliver on business agreements
• Experience in developing and managing print collateral projects
• Strong writing skills, especially in crafting compelling sponsorship presentations and proposals; excellent grammatical and proofreading skills
• Proficient with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and InDesign
• Strong verbal communication, presentation, phone-based cold-calling, negotiation and sales skills
• Knowledge of Downtown Seattle, its neighborhoods and business community preferred
• Experience with television, radio and print media sales preferred

Compensation
$55-$60k DOE, plus full medical and dental benefits, PTO, short and long term disability, 401k retirement plan and ORCA Card.
