The NW Energy Coalition is an alliance of about 100 environmental, civic, and human service organizations, progressive utilities and businesses in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana and British Columbia. We promote development of energy efficiency and renewable energy, low-income and consumer protection in energy policy decisions, and fish and wildlife restoration on the Columbia and Snake rivers.

Energy policy is critical to the Northwest’s economic and environmental health. Ensuring that individual utilities, state governments and the region pursue clean and affordable energy strategies for meeting the region’s energy needs is a central focus.

Job Description
This position will support the Coalition’s advocacy goals by ensuring that overall office operations and systems run smoothly and efficiently. The office manager will keep the office organized, and provide operational and administrative support. This position reports to the senior finance and grants manager.

This position is located at our downtown Seattle office in the historic Colman building.

Principal duties and responsibilities

Operations and Administration
• Maintain efficient office systems – including procedures, supplies, equipment, vendors, calendars, and IT support
• Provide administrative support within the office as well as at meetings and conferences
• Support office space planning and organization
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor

Human Resources
• Manage hiring processes
• Coordinate new staff orientation
• Coordinate annual staff retreat and other events/meetings as required

Board and Member Relations
• Prepare Board and membership meeting minutes
• Assist executive director in preparing agendas, materials and other communications with the Board
• Manage membership brown bag lunchtime speaker series

o 1-2 years experience in a professional office environment. Bachelor’s or AA degree preferred.
o Strong communication skills, both written and oral
o Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment
o Detail-oriented and highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects
o Self-motivated with good problem-solving skills
o A calm demeanor and ability to laugh

o Experience working in a non-profit setting with a mission-driven staff and board
o Exposure to public policy development and advocacy
o An interest in clean energy

Salary and benefits: Half-time position - Salary $16,000 to $20,000 DOE. Excellent benefits include generous medical, dental and vision insurance, four weeks paid vacation, 10 paid holidays and employer-matching retirement plan. NWEC is an equal opportunity employer.
