The Network Administrator position is responsible for operation, maintenance, and upgrades of ORCAA’s network infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have active experience with cross-platform network integration and excellent troubleshooting skills. These skills are also necessary for the air monitoring component of this position. The candidate will be responsible for configuring air monitoring instrument communications at remote locations.


The Network Administrator maintains and monitors all aspects of ORCAA’s network infrastructure, including desktop clients, Linux servers, and network routing equipment.

Manages Microsoft Server 2012 R2, to include AD DS and Group Policy for a staff of 16 or more. Troubleshoots all client and server systems.

Ensures the integrity of backup data and systems, both local and offsite; maintain backup datasets according to Washington state RCW and applicable records retention schedules.

Maintains and upgrades existing virtual Linux servers and Microsoft clients.

Builds, maintains, and upgrades cloud based and locally hosted Nginx/Apache web services hosted on Linux servers.

Researches, purchases, and builds new hardware for upgrades or replacements.

Establishes relationships with software/hardware vendors and information technology service providers.

Provides staff training on current software services and other technology implementations, including Office365 and Google Apps for Work.

Maintains, updates, and may redesign the agency websites based upon agency direction.

Maintains and configures communications and servers at air monitoring sites, which may require travel and fieldwork in remote locations.

Performs routine analytical instrument calibrations, diagnostics, and repairs in the field and in the monitoring laboratory.

Troubleshoots online real-time air monitoring data to determine equipment performance and remotely diagnose instrument problems.

Writes and reviews instrument maintenance and repair procedures

Assists with air quality data management, forecasting, and special monitoring projects.


The Network Administrator/Air Monitoring Specialist performs the majority of their responsibilities in direct contact with other members of the Agency, the general public and professionals in the air quality field. This individual must be able to move freely throughout our building, the business and residential community. They must possess full use of their body as the position requires climbing, stooping, and crawling.
The Network Administrator/Air Monitoring Specialist will frequently lift and/or carry up to 20 pounds and on occasion, up to 50 pounds. Due to the level of authority and accountability involved, this individual must be able to make sound judgments, based on a clear assessment of the facts, looking at both long and short term ramifications. This individual must be able to read, examine for errors and comprehend materials and equipment ranging from specialized gauges and instruments to letters and memos to government regulations and be able to explain these materials to others who may not possess the same level of technical expertise. Most work is performed in a quiet to moderately noisy environment, generally free of hazards. Position requires some travel throughout ORCAA’s six-county jurisdiction.


Experience: 5 or more years business experience in Information Technology. Years of experience may be substituted with education. Must have experience with both Linux and Microsoft Servers;

Skills: Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize; ability to work independently; familiar with the following systems or similar: NAS, Microsoft Server 2012R2, Allworx VoIP, Barracuda systems, TLS certificates, ChromeOS, Windows 7/8.1, firewalls, managed switches, MySQL databases, Microsoft Office.

Education: Bachelor’s of Science degree or better with 3 years experience in Information Technology, or 5 years employment experience in Information Technology.

Licenses/Certifications: Valid Washington state driver’s license
