Marketing & Business Development Manager

COMPANY DESCRIPTION:
Stockbox Neighborhood Grocery believes every community should have access to good food, to promote healthful living, social equity, and economic vibrancy. We improve this access by placing small-format neighborhood groceries throughout urban communities, to offer fresh produce, meals, and grocery staples. Our design, customer engagement, and curated inventory allow us to respond to the need of the whole community, including those who live there, those who work there, and those who pass through on their way home.

Position Overview:
The Marketing & Business Development Manager is a vital member of the Stockbox Neighborhood Grocery central operating staff. The two primary goals of this position include 1. oversee marketing, advertising and promotional activities for Stockbox Neighborhood Grocery and 2. assist in creating market opportunities for Stockbox Neighborhood Grocery.
Social media (15%)
Coordinate social media posts for South Park Grocery and for future launch community, including Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
In-store events (20%)
Work with staff, community partners, and managers to design and plan events that both resonate with customers and drive retail traffic goals.
Community engagement (25%)
Manage on-the-ground outreach to conduct market research, build customer base, and identify growth opportunities.
Partnership development (15%)
Identify and manage relationships with community partners in future launch community.
Brand/Promotional development (20%)
Work with Programming Manager, CEO, and COO to develop promotions that will attract current/new customers to the store and drive traffic on specific items/sections, such as through in-store promotions/sales, print materials, weekly circulars, online/websites, and social media.

EXPERIENCE OR SPECIAL SKILLS DESIRED:
• 3-5 years experience in marketing, community outreach, and/or business development
• Experience in social media strategy and implementation
• Experience in developing, measuring, and analyzing outreach campaigns
• Experience working with a start-up or retail company a plus
• Passionate about good food and community
• Thrives in engaging with members of the community.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Bilingual a plus.
• Resourceful, adaptable, thinks quickly on feet.
• Able to self-direct and work unassisted.
• Well organized with attention to detail and ability to carry out tasks independently.
• Ability to meet deadlines.

Scope of work:
40 hours a week for a minimum contract of 6 months. Start January 1, 2013. Contract may be extended beyond 6 months. Position is based out of Stockbox Neighborhood Grocery headquarters and requires travel within the city of Seattle. Position reports to CEO. Applicants are required to have access to their own car – mileage will be reimbursed. Travel required several times a week to South Seattle or South King County.
