Washington Trails Association is seeking a self-starting, organized and flexible Logistics Coordinator who shares our commitment to trails stewardship and volunteerism. The position’s primary responsibility is to procure, organize, pack and maintain the provisions needed for WTA’s Volunteer Vacation crews. The position works primarily in a warehouse environment to complete tasks. This is a temporary, full-time position based in North Bend. The Logistics Coordinator reports to the Field Programs Manager.

Washington Trails Association preserves, enhances, and promotes hiking opportunities in Washington State. In 2016, WTA celebrates 50 years of protecting trails. WTA has built the largest statewide volunteer trail maintenance program in the nation using a proven formula of "be safe, have fun, and get some work done." WTA leads more than 130,000 hours of volunteer service annually to maintain, repair, and build trails across the state.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Determine food and gear requirements, and ensure provisions are accurately allocated to specific Volunteer Vacation crews
• Purchase and receive goods
• Consolidate and pack provisions including food, tools and gear for multiple simultaneous trips following requirements for stock handling and for crew safety and efficiencies in the field
• Inspect, clean and maintain gear so that it is ready to use
• Maintain packing facility cleanliness and organization
• Ensure the safe and efficient operation of the packing facility
• Coordinate logistics with Field Programs Manager and crew leaders
• Provide direction for Logistics Assistant in coordination with Field Program Manager
• Train and coordinate packing facility volunteers
• Access online trip information and prepare trip materials
• Transport food and gear to front and backcountry locations across Washington as needed
• Positively represent WTA mission in all interactions with volunteers and others

The Logistics Coordinator is a temporary, full-time position starting in mid-March 2016 and continuing through September 2016. As a general rule, work will be scheduled from Tuesday through Saturday. Scheduled hours may vary day-to-day and over the term of employment

Job skills, experience and personal traits preferred:
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Able to collaborate effectively with staff and volunteers to complete and delegate tasks and help meet program/organization goals
• Able to work independently to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
• Able to follow processes and procedures to ensure safety, efficiency and a positive volunteer experience
• Positive attitude and sensitivity to the needs of volunteers
• Cultural competency experience and demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse races, ages, genders, abilities and economic backgrounds
• Has a "what else can I do" mindset
• Able to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, feeling comfortable with mid-course corrections
• Able to work in a warehouse environment and complete physical tasks including lifting up to 75 pounds
• Basic computer proficiency including internet, email and Microsoft Office
• Valid driver’s license and ability to drive a truck on highways and dirt roads
• Available from mid-March to September
• Commitment to WTA’s mission

Compensation starts at $16.00 per hour. Position is eligible for paid sick leave.
