The Graphic Designer will work under the supervision of the Creative Services Director and is primarily responsible for conceptualization, design of concepts, and full production using print, digital and experiential design mediums. For some projects, he/she will work within a creative team to develop a concept that supports the overall project strategy, and will then be responsible for bringing the concept to life by designing a rough layout, determining the final format, size and overall aesthetic. Once approved by the Creative Director and client, he/she will be responsible for full production. On other types of projects, the Graphic Designer will be given a fully designed concept and asked to do the full production.

The Graphic Designer will play a key role in helping to ensure Milepost’s brand consistency on all internal and external communications, marketing and sales activities through designing tools and templates, creating custom collateral and editing coworker deliverables. Further, he/she will be part of the marketing team, and help create digital campaigns that engage our target market, keep our website fresh and updated, and create new
collateral as needed.

The ratio of client delivery to marketing to business development for this position is approximately: 85:10:5. This position strives to be directly billable 83% of the time and works steadily to develop additional disciplines of expertise and expand project management skills.

• Meet with the creative director or consultant teams to determine the scope of a project and identify budget or production schedule constraints
• Support the creative team in the development of strategies to reach a particular audience, including
• developing creative briefs and conducting market research
• Think creatively and develop new design concepts, graphics and layouts for print and digital mediums using
• graphic design software
• Work collaboratively with the copy team to ensure the right messaging was developed for the designs
• Present design concepts to Creative Director, and incorporate changes recommended into the final design
• Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them including proofreading copy
• Manage printing process, attending all press checks
• Support internal marketing strategy by building outreach and engagement tools such as collateral, branded emails, updating the website, and keeping our social presence fresh and visual
• Support sales team by creating custom sales tools or ensuring they have samples of our design work
• Edit consultant deliverables for brand alignment and consistency • Build and maintain branded templates for consultant use in PowerPoint, Word and Excel • Research and recognize design trends

• Participate in sales support activities as requested, including (but not limited to) the development of proposals, work plans, budgets, and development of sales pitches
• Help define new strategic communications offers
• Look for opportunities to win awards for our design work
• Blog and craft other social media content building thought leadership around strategic communications
• Maintain and offer improvements to group processes
• Identify opportunities to incorporate energy efficiency, energy management and sustainability principles in all internal Milepost and external client projects

The following areas of knowledge are required to fulfill the obligations of this position:
• Proven graphic and web design experience, with a solid understanding of hierarchy, typography and color theory
• Demonstrable design skills with a strong portfolio including page layout, illustration for icons and infographics, and web design
• Strong written and verbal communications skills
• Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas
• Must be able to follow creative direction and adhere to brand and style guides
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment with remote stakeholders
• Professionalism regarding time, costs, deadlines and work process
• Ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet / adjust to changing priorities / deadlines
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite

• Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or similar
• Minimum 4 years prior graphic design experience

• Position responsibilities are conducted exclusively in an office setting
• Most work activities are conducted at a desk on a computer
• Light walking for completing some tasks
