Washington Toxics Coalition, a Seattle-based nonprofit organization working to protect public health and the environment by eliminating toxic pollution through policy reform, seeks a full-time Field Organizer/Communications Associate.

The Organizer works directly with the Senior Campaign Director and staff to advance WTC’s campaign goals and objectives. Specifically, the Organizer implements the field and communications portions of the campaign plan. The position requires creative problem solving ability, strong writing and communications skills and the ability to take initiative.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. With the Senior Campaign Director, develop the field strategy for the campaigns. This position has primary responsibility to implement the field plan.
2. Develop the social media strategy. This position has primary responsibility to implement the strategy.
3. Create and maintain calendar for WTC’s ToxicWatch blog and maintain blog.
4. Update web pages, track website metrics.
5. With appropriate staff input, update and maintain database to track leadership development and activist involvement.
6. With Senior Campaign Director, implement WTC communications plan.
7. Participate in organizational meetings and events as assigned.

Knowledge of:
• Principles and practices of new media, including social media and blog writing
• Fundamentals of database management, website management, Salesforce or other CRM software, Google Apps and general office software
• Principles and practices of grassroots organizing
• Fundamentals of public policy campaigns

Ability to:
• Collaborate closely with staff and key volunteers, negotiate completion of tasks with peers and others over whom there is no direct authority
• Plan, organize and supervise the work of volunteers and interns
• Write and edit proficiently
• Master computer databases and online resources related to constituent management
• Troubleshoot and problem-solve IT and technical issues in computer databases, online programs and other software as necessary

Salary range $38,000-$42,000 to start, DOE. Benefits package includes paid medical, dental and disability insurance, with optional retirement and Flexible Spending Account plans.
