The crew leader (CL) position is a seasonal position with EarthCorps. The crew leader is responsible for: project coordination between project sponsors, EarthCorps project managers, the Field Operations Director, and their crew; facilitation of crew safety and well-being, productivity, morale and quality of work; corpsmember training and education in the field; and, maintaining the objectives of EarthCorps in all endeavors. The position reports to the program manager who will serve as advisor to the crew leaders and their crews. EarthCorps crews will be comprised of 5-6 corpsmembers and a crew leader. The position is designed with co-leading for the first half of the program and solo leading for the second half. This position is offered through the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS). As such, all applicants must meet the requirements to become an AmeriCorps member and abide by AmeriCorps policies.

Crew leaders are primarily in the field engaged in environmental restoration projects throughout the Puget Sound region (in urban, suburban, and rural settings). Restoration is physically demanding service that takes place outdoors in all weather conditions. Projects can include stream and salmon habitat restoration, erosion control, invasive plant removal (weed removal), native plant installation, trail construction and maintenance, and volunteer management.

Service regularly involves hiking, heavy lifting, & repetitive motions, including lifting up to 50 lbs. (22.5 kg), as well as hiking up to 8 mi. (13 km) while carrying 40 lbs. (18 kg) of weight for up to 9hrs/day.
