Reporting to EnviroIssues leadership team, the Controller will lead all day‐to‐day finance operations and supervise a team, including functional responsibility over accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll. The Controller will ensure the company has the systems and procedures in place to support a high functioning business operation and conduct flawless audits.


Finance and Accounting Leadership

• Oversee and maintain all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
• Maintain internal control and safeguards for receipt of revenue, costs, and program budgets and actual expenditures.
• Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors.
• Consistently analyze financial data and present financial reports in an accurate and timely manner; clearly communicate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; monitor and analyze progress and changes and keep senior leadership abreast of the company’s financial status.
• Assist the company’s leadership team in the annual budgeting and planning process; administer and review all financial plans and compare to actual results with a view to identify, explain, and correct variances as appropriate.
• Coordinate and prepare submittal requirements for Small Business and Women‐Owned
Business certifications.
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and submit tax filings.
• Maintain appropriate business related insurance policies.
• Manage and track the performance of invested assets in keeping with policies and investment guidelines.
• Support company leadership in maintaining corporate documents.

Team Leadership

• Oversee accounting team members responsible for payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, insurance, benefit coordination and contract management.
• Leverage strengths of the current finance team members and develop and implement training programs in order to maximize and reach optimal individual and organizational goals.

• Provide leadership in strengthening internal communications with staff at all levels throughout the organization; create and promote a positive and supportive work environment.


This is an extraordinary opportunity for a mature leader with a minimum of 10 years of accounting and finance experience, ideally beginning in accounting and audit, followed by experience gathering, evaluating, presenting and reporting financial information to executive teams. S/he will ideally have experience in the professional services industry and/or with similarly sized consulting firms.

Other qualifications include:

• Minimum of a BA; advanced business degree desired.
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and unwavering commitment to EnviroIssues
• Proactive, hands‐on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the leadership team, the responsibility for finance.
• Solid experience coordinating audit activities and managing reporting, budget development and analysis, accounts payable and receivables, general ledger, payroll, business operations (e.g. insurance, taxes) and accounting for investments.
• Experience using Deltek Vision software desired.
• Keen analytic, organization and problem solving skills which allows for strategic data interpretation and recommendations.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience managing or supervising teams.
• Experience effectively communicating key financial data, including presentations to senior management.
• Ability and desire to translate complex financial concepts to individuals at all levels including finance and non‐finance managers.
