Coltura Seeks Arts Mobilizer
Coltura is an emerging Seattle-based non-profit working to create and foster a No-Gasoline movement, and we’re collaborating with artists to help lead and inspire the movement. We aim to end the use of gasoline in the U.S. by the year 2040.
Coltura uses art to change the way people view gasoline—shifting its cultural meaning from a source of power and freedom to a dirty pariah that must be avoided.
Coltura is hiring an Arts Mobilizer with passion both for the arts and for saving the planet in order to:
• Mobilize artists of many disciplines behind the No-Gasoline movement
• Develop partnerships with local artists and arts organizations to collaborate on Coltura projects
• Advance Coltura’s environmental/art messaging through social media, street performance, concerts, and/or other innovative uses of the arts.
• Promote Coltura’s No-Gasoline Plan
• Build awareness of and audience for Coltura’s work
• Assist with planning and organizing a wide range of events
• Assist with grant writing and research
• Assist with administrative work as needed
Our ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
• Highly motivated person with a strong work ethic and a track record of getting things done
• Background and passion for the arts and arts management
• Self-starter: able to figure out what to do next and then do it.
• A “people” person with good communication skills
• Strong writing ability
• Community organizing experience a plus
• Graphic arts, web, and social media skills a plus
We are looking for an ambitious, energetic person who will put their heart and soul into the work. We want a person who loves to create and who has a passion for the environment.
What can Coltura offer in return?
• An opportunity to create and define cutting edge social and environmental advocacy
• An opportunity to engage and work with the artistic community in Seattle
• A creative role in which to try new things to help save the environment
• Experiencing working with highly-regarded fundraising and public relations consultants
• A flexible schedule
• A passionate staff
• $20-$25 an hour.
To apply, please email a statement about why you would be good for the job and a resume/portfolio to [email protected]
