The Oregon Department of Environmental Quality Northwest Region located at DEQ Headquarters in Portland, OR currently has a Full-Time opportunity for an Air Quality Manager to join an innovative team, and work to advance our agency mission to protect and improve Oregon's air quality.

What will you do?
The selected candidate will be responsible for implementing all aspects of the air quality program for DEQ's Northwest Region, which includes the Portland metro area and the three North Coast counties. This region of DEQ's jurisdiction includes an active and engaged citizenry, a blend of urban and rural communities, diverse businesses and industries, and Environmental Justice communities. The selected candidate will successfully implement environmental programs in this area while understanding the diverse interests and community needs while having the ability to inform how DEQ is executing its work.The selected candidate will supervise and support staff, participate in the management of regional and statewide air quality issues and engage in process improvement and organizational health efforts to help make DEQ efficient and an employer of choice. This includes an emphasis on supporting staff to effectively achieve the responsibilities of the NW region Air Quality section.

Working Conditions
Generally an office environment. Occasional travel to attend meetings with EPA and other states. Requires travel, including overnight stays in other regions of Oregon for public hearings and other meetings, and occasional trips to attend conferences, seminars and hearings. Routine inspections of regulated facilities throughout the NW region.

Qualifications, Required & Requested Skills
Minimum Qualifications - To be considered a qualified applicant you must meet the following criteria:

Three years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following:
a) development of program rules and policies
b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans
c) program evaluation and
d) budget preparation

OR

Two years of management experience in a public or private organization which included responsibility for each of the following:
a) development of program rules and policies
b) development of long- and short-range goals and plans
c) program evaluation and
d) budget preparation;

AND

45-48 quarter hours (30-32 semester hours) of graduate level coursework in management.

OR

Three years of professional experience as a program/project leader,
a) assigning and reviewing work of professional staff (e.g., engineers, etc.)
b) project responsibility for developing goals and objectives
c) project evaluation and
d) monitoring and controlling or preparing a budget.
