2016 Northwest GreenHomeTour
April 30 - May 1, 11 am - 5 pm both days
Free and fun for the whole family, the NW Green Home Tour is a self-guided tour featuring 20+ healthy and green new homes and remodels in the Seattle area and beyond.
Get inspired by projects in all shades of green, from historic homes renovated for sustainability and comfort to cutting-edge new homes built to LEED and Passive House standards. You'll see and learn first-hand how your neighbors are generating their own electricity with solar panels, lowering their energy bills with insulation, and creating healthy home environments for their families.
Among the many sustainable building features on display are solar panels, rainwater collection systems, advanced insulation and framing techniques, geothermal heat pumps, storm water management, reclaimed and recycled materials, electric vehicle charging stations and much more.
Homes on this year's tour include three Built Green(R) townhomes, a floating home, a tiny house community, a RainWise garden home, even a backyard cottage built from shipping containers. Several homes generate enough clean solar electricity to power themselves, and produce enough surplus power to charge the owners' electric cars.
Presented by the Northwest EcoBuilding Guild and Greenhome Solutions, the sixth-annual Northwest Green Home Tour is a fun opportunity to learn, get inspired, and explore new ways to live more lightly on the earth.
