This month we are very excited to have an opportunity to take a closer look at Seattle’s first geothermal community. The Shilshole Pointe project by JRJ Development at it’s completion, will be a collection of seven Built Green 4-Star homes in the Sunset Hill neighborhood of Ballard. Aside from the Geothermal system, other various features include 50 year metal roofs, super insulated walls and ceiling, Energy Star appliances, low VOC finishes, water conserving fixtures, rain barrels, drought tolerant plantings, and more. 5 of the 7 homes are in varying stages of completion. We will start with the completed ”Captains House”, and have an opportunity to view other homes in the project and see the different stages in a green building project.

The GreenDwellingSeattle Monthly Home Tours are designed to be more than just a walk through a home, but a complete green building experience. Participants are given an introduction to common green building materials at ecoHAUS , and then enjoy a guided tour of a select green home led by the people that are responsible for the homes design and construction. Join architect Anne Van Dyne and James Kam from JRJ Development for an informative experience regarding the materials, techniques, technologies, and of course design philosophy behind this collection of homes.
