The Sustainable Ballard Festival is one of the highlights of the year for Ballard. Each year, we celebrate our successes through engaging activities, how-to workshops, community building, art, music and creativity and old-fashioned family fun.

This year's festival will features an abundance of green building and transportation exhibits, a music stage with cafe/lounge area, food trucks, the Undriver Licensing Station™, Bikeworks Family Bike Expo, 50+ vendors, farm animals, cider-making, solar and raingarden displays, fun for kids and more!

On Saturday, June 23, Sustainable Ballard is hosting the 4th Annual Edible Garden Tour of northeast Ballard food gardens. Their goal is to, “educate and inspire folks to grow food by giving examples of creative uses of parking strips, containers, raised beds, bee houses, chicken coops, fruit trees & berries and more.” Participants will have a chance to meet the gardeners and ask questions. The tour includes about a dozen gardens to explore, all within walking distance of the Whittier Elementary School (1320 NW 75th St.).

Sustainable Ballard and Sunset Hill Community Association host this Celebration of the Sun. This is a great opportunity to meet your neighbors and learn more about local solar energy. There will be information on community solar, solar cooking, plans for a local solar substation, various technologies comparisons, creative uses for solar, PLUS music, food and games (including Solar Bingo!!) While you're there you can check out the new(ish) SHCA rain garden and cistern installations! This event is free to the public.

Keynote presentation by Jason Lear, Batt + Lear on NW Ecobuilding Guild Technical Flashcard project, virtual demonstrations of Paint and Welding Simulators, Hybrid Semi-Tractor Demo, and Trowel Trades Workshop.
