The Seattle Girls’ Choir Cantamus and the Seattle First Baptist Sanctuary Choir perform the northwest premiere of The Peacemakers by Welsh composer Karl Jenkins, one of the most performed living composers. Jenkin’s 70th birthday in February was celebrated with retrospective performances at Carnegie Hall and Royal Albert Hall. In this oratorio, he sets texts by iconic historical peacemakers, including Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa and the Dalai Lama. The musical scoring is lush, vibrant, reverent, and alive with purpose.
